Telemetrics Camera Elevating Wall Mount System Rises To The Occasion

H-Frame System Solution Figures Prominently in High Profile Installations

Mahwah, NJ (February 19, 2009) - Telemetrics, Inc., the industry leader for innovative and cost effective camera control systems, is making it easier for broadcast and production centers to accomplish the move to more automated systems with their innovative Elevating Wall Mount System. The BT-X3/Z3-VS is a remotely controlled camera positioning system that offers both vertical and horizontal positioning for pan and tilt camera movement to help create a virtual studio environment.
“Today’s media industry is faced with enormous challenges on the economic front and is looking for imaginative, yet practical ideas and products to help them become more nimble and creative in their business,” said Anthony Cuomo, Vice President and General Manager, Telemetrics, Inc. “Our Elevating Wall Mount System is proving to help a wide range of broadcast and production facilities capitalize on their hardware investments while delivering added value to do more with less in the new economy and into the future.”
The H-frame elevating belt-driven track system can be controlled with various Telemetrics control panels and computer software which offer position, preset and motion control capability. The X and Z tracks each measure up to three meters
(9.84 ft.), can bear a trolley load of 70 pounds and are specified with a minimum speed of 0.1ft./second and a maximum speed of 2.5 ft/second. The system comes complete with wall, ceiling and/or floor mounting brackets, floor leveling feet, cable track and pan/tilt mount including the motor drive panels and motors, and can be custom designed to the customer’s specification.
For virtual studio applications, the system relies on the optional X-Z positional encoders which deliver precise (~13,000 count/inch) data. The positional information is processed into serial format and sent to the virtual studio computer. Most recently, the virtual studio application was implemented by Canada’s Global TV network wherein a system of four regional production centers are remotely controlled providing regional coverage from around the country. It is proving to be an extremely cost-efficient solution that has allowed them to enhance their coverage capabilities.
Each of the 14 studio locations is equipped with the Telemetrics H-frame Elevating Belt Track System, in either the floor to ceiling version, model BT-TRK-010, or the wall mounted version, model BT-TRK-008. Those units deployed in the virtual studio locations will also include built-in X-Z position encoders which will send the camera positional information back to Orad’s ProSet in the main production center. From this main location, one person can operate any camera, in any city, allowing for continuity between shows and across the Global brand.
In another implementation, Telemetrics’ Elevating Belt Track System was installed at the studios of the Traders Television Network in Texas. The limited studio space
(22’ x 20’) necessitated a customized design, and the Telemetrics solution was the perfect fit. The H-shaped belt-driven, high-speed servo positioning system spans 11 feet in front of the control room window and is mounted 8” from the wall. The implementation pushes the envelope for efficiency resulting in lower total cost of ownership and operation.
